Sadiq, Samarth blow away Rockstars

A solid opening partnership between Sadiq Kirmani (87 not out) and Samarth Ooty (51) saw Namma Shivamogga sashay their way to a third consecutive victory in the Karnataka Premier League on Tuesday.

The duo put on 129 runs for the first wicket, the highest partnership for any wicket in this edition.

Earlier, Rockstars were put in to bat and scored 146/4 in 20 overs while Shivamogga overhauled the total with ease, ending on 148/2 in 16.3 overs.

The tournament newcomers were on song right from the start with Sadiq and Samarth getting into their groove quickly.

Sadiq and Samarth slammed the rival attack at will forcing Rockstar skipper Kiccha Sudeep to use as many as eight bowlers.

While Sadiq hammered five fours and an equal number of sixes, Samarth smashed three fours and two sixes.

Sadiq, who won man of the match for his good showing, said, "We need to continue our winning streak. With three wins, we will need one more to be assured of a berth in the semis.”

Namma Shivamogga were cruising along when Samarth fell while attempting one shot too many with victory well in sight.
