JOIN USA 17-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped by two men in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar on Sunday. When rescued by locals, she was found with her mouth gagged and limbs tied.
An angry mob tonsured and thrashed the accused before they were handed over to police. “The accused are labourers and lived two houses away from the victim’s home,” said a police officer.
The girl, a class 11 student, lives with her parents and siblings in Aman Vihar. According to her brother, she has a habit of going for morning walks every day.
“She left home for her walk at 5 am. When she did not return home for long, the family began searching the locality for her,” the officer added.
On Sunday evening, someone came across a house close to the victim’s home that was locked from outside, but lights were switched on. Sensing something suspicious, neighbours peeped into the room through a window and saw the girl lying inside, gagged and her limbs tied. They broke open the door and rescued the girl.
It was alleged that she was kidnapped by Naushad and Mohammad. The house was taken on rent by Naushad. “She was taken to their house where she was confined and gang-raped,” the officer said.
Soon, locals overpowered and thrashed Naushad and Mohammad. The mob also tore open their clothes and tonsured them before a police team arrived at the spot.
Naushad and Mohammad were sent to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Police said they escaped serious injuries and have been sent to Tihar Jail.
A case under Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was filed over the victim’s statement. The girl sustained minor injuries and her medical examination confirmed sexual assault.
