Cops suspect him to be mentally unstable

Police on Saturday took Shivesh Pal, who managed to sneak a gun into a Metro station and then allegedly tried to kill himself, to Yamuna Bank police station after he was discharged from the hospital.

“Police have taken Shivesh Pal for interrogation. We will try to find out the reasons behind his act of shooting himself inside the Metro station. He could be arrested,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Jitender Mani said.

According to sources, Jatin Pal could be arrested under sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.

On Thursday, Shivesh Pal had claimed that he had wanted to prove that walking into the Delhi Metro network with a firearm was possible since his tip-off about a possible terror attack was ignored.

Police said they will verify his claims. They suspect he could be suicidal and mentally unstable.

Shivesh Pal had allegedly said he had heard some persons in Uttar Pradesh saying they were going to blow up a Delhi Metro station on September 28.

He promptly informed the authorities, who did not pay heed to his warning.
To prove his point, Shivesh roped in his sister Geeta, who was here to meet their father.

It is not clear whether Geeta was aware of the contents of the bag.
She was detained and questioned by police but was later released.
