Five friends dupe woman, arrested

The Kengeri police have arrested five persons including two women who robbed their friend in Jnanabharathi Layout recently.

According to police, the arrested have been identified as Jagadish, 22, Chetan, 19, Anand, 22, Shilpa, 26 and Geetha, 28. As much as 143 grams of gold, two kg silver worth Rs five lakh and Rs 40,000 in cash have been recovered from the arrested.  The arrest was made on the basis of a complaint lodged by Vinutha, the victim.

On October 1, Geetha and Shilpa went to Vinutha’s house along with Ananda, who claimed himself to be a media professional. All the three told Vinutha that they were tipped off about illegal activities in her (Vinutha’s) house and hence would search her house.

Police said that a shocked Vinutha allowed her friends to search her house.  However, on the pretext of search, Anand and his accomplices took the valuables in the cupboard and fled the spot. Vinutha, who came to know of the theft, had lodged a complaint.
