Seek our nod before digging roads, Palike tells BWSSB

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike Commissioner G Kumar Naik has asked the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board to seek its (Palike’s) permission before digging roads for the Board’s work.

“Although an online system has been devised to seek permission for road cutting, the BWSSB officials never bother to seek our permission. It is sad to note while all other government agencies seek Palike's permission before digging roads, the BWSSB engineers never take such pain,” Naik said in a coordination committee meeting civic agencies.

He said that the BWSSB engineers were defeating the very purpose of the coordination committee. “They never adhere to any of our instructions, which is creating an unpleasant situation,” said Naik.

The BBMP commissioners in the past have been blaming the BWSSB for damaging the road but for the first time, a very stern message through a public platform has been issued to the Board officials.
