The ninth edition of the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon will kick off at the Karnataka Trade Promotion Organisation Convention Centre (KTPO), Whitefield, here on December 5.

Organised by the Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC), the event will have a 20 percent increase in prize money as compared to last year while legendary athlete Milkha Singh will continue to be its brand ambassador.

“It is amazing to see Bengaluru show great response to the Midnight Marathon and I am eager to be a part of it. Running is a very important aspect of my training and it helps an athlete to remain fit. I urge the Bengaluru people to remain fit and keep running for good health,” said Saina.

Apart from the full marathon, the programme on the race day will also include half-marathon, open 10k run, women’s 10k run, IT City fun run, corporate relay and community relay.

The organisers announced that the marathon has been recognised by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), which they believe is a great boost to the event.

“I am pleased with the response received for this year’s edition. We are hoping to see more international participants this year. We intend to raise funds, as we do every year and dedicate the entire money to charity,” said Nitesh Shah, President, RBITC.
