JOIN USAs many as 12 people were killed in three separate accidents that occurred in Bagalkot, Chitradurga and Dharwad districts on Thursday.
Six people were killed on the spot, including a 20-day-old infant, in an accident between a KSRTC bus and an SUV near Bhagavati village on Bagalkot-Almatti Main Road. At least nine persons suffered injuries and are being treated at the Bagalkot district hospital.
Yallavva Vaddarakal, 62, her daughter-in-law Yankavva Vaddarakal, 25, and her 20-day infant, Appanna Vaddarakal, residents of Bhairamatti village in Bagalkot taluk, SUV driver Manjappa Kambar, 28, Ramanna Balannavar, 60 and Parvatavva Shikkeri, 65, residents of Halluru village are the deceased.
An SUV going towards Bhairamatti village rammed into a KSRTC bus coming from Muddebihal to Bagalkot in Vijayapura district. Due to the impact of the accident, the SUV was completely damaged, while the bus toppled on the roadside.
In Chtiradurga
Three persons died on the spot and two were seriously injured after the car in which they were travelling rammed into a bridge near BG Kere on Bengaluru-Ballari national highway in Molakalmuru taluk, Chitradurga district.
The deceased are Pavan, 24, of Vidyanagar Layout in Chitradurga, Rakesh, 23, of Channagiri in Davangere district and Harsha, 23 from Hiriyur in Chitradurga district.
The injured are Shivashankarappa and Manju, and are being treated at the Challakere hospital.
All five were travelling from Chitradurga to Kurugodu in Ballari district on a visit to a temple.
A case has been registered with the Talaku police station.
In Dharwad
Three persons died on the spot after they were run over by a tipper near Koturu Cross on national highway in Dharwad district on Thursday.
The deceased are M Kumaraswamy, 60, a resident of Ahmadabad in Gujarat, Nizamuddin, 25, a native of Uttar Pradesh and Lokesh Yadav, 35.
All three of them were employed with the Mumbai-based Alsinghania and Ganapathi Logistics company and were good friends. Kumaraswamy had left Mumbai on Wednesday and was going towards Bengaluru and Nizamuddin and cleaner Lokesh Yadav had left Bengaluru and were travelling towards Mumbai. They were in touch with each other and had decided to meet on their way.
They had parked their lorries on the roadside and met near a dhaba near Koturu Cross. When all three were engaged in a conversation, a tipper from Maharashtra mowed them. The tipper driver abandoned his vehicle and fled. The bodies have been sent for post mortem and the police visited the spot. A case has been registered with the Garag police station.
