It has said that he should step down from the post immediately owning  moral responsibility in the backdrop of the interim report presented by Justice Somasekhara Commission.

Speaking to the media persons, former MLA and CPI (M) State Secretariat member G V Sriram Reddy said that Acharya has drastically failed as a Home Minister in maintaining administrative and law and order mechanism in the State.

Attackers being saved

The interim report of Justice Somasekhara Commission appointed to hold inquiry into the church attacks, which was recently handed over to the government, has revealed Bajrang Dal and Sri Rama Sene’s role in the attack.  Despite the report clearly stating the names of the organisations, Home Minister,  is vehemently  safeguarding the interests of these fractions.

He said that Dr Acharya should come out with the statements revealing his stance besides clarifying his support to the culprits. The commission was appointed by the government to investigate the matter. Government should take immediate actions against the accused in the report.

Coastal belt is prone to communal disturbance. The number of cases of attack on minorities has increased relentlessly. The incidents substantiate the incompetence of the Home Department, he said.

Strongly condemning the attack on students belonging to Student’s Federation of India by Bajarang Dal and other sister concerns in Surathkal, Reddy said that the civil police have joined hands with moral police.

The attack was pre-planned and aimed at finishing off the existence of SFI in the coastal belt. SFI poses threat to the Sangh Pariwar with its rationalistic overtures. All the accused who are involved should be arrested, he demanded. Members Admaru Sripathy Acharya, S Y Gurushanth, Kaviraj and others were present.
