Celebrating a legacy

Last Updated 15 October 2015, 18:33 IST

Ganjam, the luxury heritage jewellery brand, celebrated 125 years recently by launching its flagship store on Vittal Mallya Road. The launch witnessed many of the store’s customers and families who have been associated with Ganjam for decades.

With a legacy of being the jewellers of the Indian royalty, it has grown to become one of India’s leading luxury brands offering an exquisite blend of the traditional and modern. Umesh Ganjam, Joint Managing Director, says, “This is a momentous and emotional milestone for us. We have completed 125 years of our journey and have endeavoured to stay true to our essence to create jewellery with soul.”

The boutique is designed by Denis Montel, Managing and Artistic Director of RDAI. The inspiration was drawn from the Hampi temples that’s built with a modern touch. Located on one of the fashionable streets of the City, the store is a contemporary interpretation of a temple that reflects the deep heritage of Ganjam. The massive dimensions, the walls composed of cut stones, the harmonious integration into the landscape, the feeling of space and air that is felt everywhere, the carved columns — all combine to create a space that is evocative of Hampi and Dravidian architecture. The features are framed and decorated along with carved columns such as the banyan tree inspired interior detailing spanning over two floors. The staircase is also a reflexion of the geometrically thrilling ‘stepping tank’.

Along with the launch of the store, Ganjam has also unveiled two of its collections — ‘Mooresque’ and ‘Tasrika’, both of  which celebrate fine handcrafted jewellery with precious stones and intricate details.

The evening was celebrated with the City’s top crowd admiring and enjoying the jewellery.

The store is located on 22/2, Vittal Mallya Road, and it’s open from 11 am to 7 pm.
