Disappointed, but I'll be back

Last Updated 24 October 2015, 20:06 IST

I finished with two birdies on the last three holes, but just before that the damage had already been done on the fifth and sixth. The net result was, from a possible a five or six-over card, I crashed to nine-over and tumbled out of the Hero Women’s Indian Open. The event means so much to me, so it is indeed a disappointment. But never mind, I am on my comeback from injuries and form-issues and I will be back.

The course has not been easy but I seemed to be doing just enough to stay in after the front nine as I was three-over for the day. I had my chances even after bogeys on first and third, but a triple on fifth and double on seventh ended all that. I gave it all with birdies on seventh and ninth, but it was too late.

It has been a tough lesson this week, but one which is also educative. So I am trying to take positives from it, as my coach, Tarun and I will sit down and discuss it.

As for the rest of the field, it was nice to see my friend, Cheyenne Woods find her form and card three-under 69 and not only make the cut but also move to tied fourth and she can make a bid for the title as she is only three shots behind the leader, Emily Pedersen, who added a 73 to her first round 70 to be the only player in red colours at under-par.

She has been close to winning more than once this season – she lost a play-off at Lacoste Ladies Open de France and was also second in Holland, so maybe a win is due for her this week. She has been in great form and loves India and Indian food.

Aditi Ashok, who has had a good season, is best among Indians on the leaderboard and she could land her another Top-10 from the event. Vani Kapoor, Saainya and Smriti have made the cut and I will be rooting for them on Sunday.

Meanwhile, I hope more and more people turn up for the final day and enjoy some good golf, though I will be disappointed at watching it from the sidelines.
