Three Bengalureans have made it to the finals of India’s Cute Vegetarian Next Door contest organised by the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Out of hundreds of applicants, the Peta has shortlisted ten male and ten female contestants. Jitin Sharma (23), Hitesh Ramawat (24) and Kavya Rao (25), all from Bengaluru, have made it to the list. The winners will be declared on November 2. The online voting for the contestants is scheduled for October 28.

“I have always loved animals. Knowing that a being is alive because I am not eating it, keeps my conscious clear,” said Sharma.

Ramawat said that he and his family were vegans. “Animals feel the pain and we have no rights to hurt them,” he said

“On an average, vegetarians are slimmer and healthier than most meat-eaters. And over their lifetimes, they spare countless animals the horrors of factory farms, slaughterhouses and fishing nets.

One look at our radiant finalists proves that there is nothing more attractive than compassion,” said Peta India Nutritionist Bhuvaneshwari Gupta.
