<p>The saying ‘When in doubt bake a cake’ is followed religiously by many. While it acts as a stressbuster to many, it is an addiction for the rest. Whatever it may be, baking has always been considered as an art and a bond one gets attached to. <br /><br /></p>.<p> Anshuman Deep started baking when she was in eighth standard. Now, a homemaker and proprietor of ‘Cupcake Couture’, as she calls it, she has taken baking to a whole new level and churning out cupcakes in all kinds of delectable moulds. It is a hobby that gives her immense pleasure and brings smiles on innumerable faces. <br /><br />“Baking for me is a leisure-time activity that gives me pleasure. My mother used to bake some amazing cakes, I guess I have inherited her traits for baking,” she says.<br /><br />As for the name ‘Cupcake Couture’, she explains, “Every cupcake I make are designed ones. It’s not copied from anywhere. These are homemade and customised with a lot of variety in terms of colours, shapes and ingredients. Though I concentrate on baking healthy cupcakes by using ingredients like olive oil, substituting sugar with jaggery and ‘maida’ with ‘atta’, I do customise cakes according to how people want me to and what they want me to add in their cupcakes.” <br /><br />Anshuman bakes cupcakes for occasions like birthdays, anniversaries, and as gifts to near and dear ones. <br /><br />Baking a cake is an art and the skill to perfection comes only with practice and patience. “I prioritise my work and follow it accordingly. This helps me strike a balance in life and I enjoy everything I do,” she says.<br /><br />Getting orders and positive feedback from friends and family have boosted her confidence and she is experimenting more often. <br /><br />However, when asked if she wants to do it on a permanent basis, she says, ‘I haven’t thought about it as of now as baking cakes are a passion for me’. <br /><br /> She says, “I do get a lot of orders from my friends and family, they have always been encouraging and supportive right from the time I started baking. This has pushed me to try out new things each time. I have not thought of turning this passion into a business as of now.”<br /><br />She has displayed her cupcakes at different exhibitions and has received appreciation for it. “I am excited to put up a stall for ‘Diwali’ at our apartment.”<br /><br /></p>
