The State government is considering a proposal to establish digital art finishing schools, according to Tanushree Deb Verma, Director, Directorate of Information Technology and Biotechnology.

A digital media city of global standards will be set up in Karnataka. Industrialists should come forward to invest in this rapidly growing sector, she said at the Digital India conference organised by the Association of Bangalore Animation Industry here on Tuesday.

“Animation has become a part of our lives. Pictures, digital apps, mobile gaming, it has permeated into our lives in various forms,” she observed.

V Manasa, Principal Secretary, Information Department, said the government was committed to digitising every fine arts college in the State.

Karnataka is the first state to have come up with a separate policy for digital industry. Drafted in 2013, the policy will be implemented now, she added.
