This place is tiny and can be easily missed even when you are standing right in front of it. The Fat Fanny’s Cafe is located in Koramangala 1st block just next to Naturals Ice Cream, near Wipro signal. The cafe is in the first floor of the building. The interior is decorated with old boxes, radio set, book shelves and a sewing machine which are creatively used as tables in the cafe.

“This cafe is a family-owned business. We hail from Fort Kochi, which was once ruled by the Portuguese. This cafe has a strong influence of the colonial times. The interiors that we have done up are to give the authentic look and feel of a Portuguese household. All the decorative items are antique and are sourced from different places,” says Ajay James, who takes care of the operations of the cafe.

The menu is elaborately categorised into the breakfast menu that varies from English breakfast to ‘appam’ and stew, a special section for egg lovers called ‘eggalitarian’, burgers and sandwiches, pastas and beverages. Some of the most popular food items are the chicken stew ‘appam’, pork ‘vindaloo’, burgers and sandwiches. For beverages, one can go for the water melon slushy, lemon ice tea or a strong filter coffee or a hot cup of ginger black tea. “The fruit juice and other ingredients we use in our menu are home-made. From jams and sauces to fruit juices, everything is fresh,” adds Ajay.

The crowd is a mixed one with mostly young professionals and students coming in during the weekdays and families coming in during the weekends.

Though the concept of the cafe is quirky and creative, the cleanliness factor leaves much to be desired, The trash bags dumped at the entrance is not a welcoming sight. The Fat Fanny’s Cafe is located at 1020, V3 Trinity, 1st Floor, 80 Feet Road, 1st Block, Koramangala. For details, call 9945475212.
