A small portion of the road caved in on Sunday in Subramanyanagar near Malleswaram. A crater, about a meter in diameter, had formed on the busy main road.

This stretch of the road sees a good number of vehicles during the peak hours, including many BMTC buses.

While the local residents had erected just two stones and a cardboard box to draw the attention of motorists, there was no other sign of precaution.

This apart, a manhole and an open drainage right next to the spot pose threat to commuters.

When contacted, Joint Commissioner of the West Zone of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike said that the issue had not been brought to his notice and that he would take measures after visiting the spot.

Subramanyanagar corporator, H Manjunath, however, attributed it to the damaged drainage pipe and said that he would have it repaired at the earliest.
