Lorry rams bike, runs over pillion rider

A 40-year-old housewife who was riding pillion died in a road accident near the Outer Ring road in Jalahalli, on Friday.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Muniyamma, a resident of Kogilu Layout near Yelahanka. Around 1.30 pm, she and her neighbour Amar Choudhary, who was riding the bike, were going to a temple on Magadi road. As they neared Outer Ring road, a lorry bearing Tamil Nadu registration, rammed into the bike from behind. Muniyamma fell off the two-wheeler and the rear wheel of the lorry ran over her, killing her on the spot.

Choudhary escaped with minor injuries.

The police, on receiving information, rushed to the spot, seized the lorry and arrested the driver Arjun. The police said that the lorry driver’s rash and negligent driving caused the accident.

A case has been registered in Jalahalli traffic police station.
