'Known to the Unknown' opens to public

Director of Allegro Ventures India Giselle Mehta was the chief guest on the occasion. In her address, Mehta spoke about the death of Shenoy’s works and his universal themes. Artist Gopadkar was eloquent about Shenoy’s themes and the enthusiasm he shows towards his work.

Later addressing the gathering, artist Shenoy explained the meaning of the word ‘art’ as ‘to keep the things in order, externally as well as internally’. He criticised the renewed interest in realistic art, that it is just what a camera can do, while the real art is beyond that. He admired the artistic talents in children, which often go beyond their age. He called his works ‘Painting without paint’ and pointed out that what he created in collage can not be done with paint.

More than 130 collage works have been thickly packed in the gallery. The exhibition will be open from 11 am to 6 pm from February 6 to 20. There is no price tag for the unusual collection. However, the proceedings of the sale of these works will be contributed towards the development of art and poor artists.

Director of Preediv Art Gallery Preetham Fernandes, various artists and art lovers were present.
