Ministers to inaugurate a host of development works

District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai and Urban Development Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake will inaugurate various road, footpath and drainage development works on November 21.

Addressing media persons on Thursday, Mayor Jacintha Vijaya Alfred said the ministers will perform the groundbreaking for Kankanadi Circle-Retreat House (Model Road), Durga Mahal Junction-Kalikamba Junction and Durga Mahal-Bokkapatna Road development works.

The Kankanadi Circle-Retreat House road will be developed at a cost of Rs 2 crore, the development of Durga Mahal Junction-Kalikamba Junction Road at the Kulur Ferry Road will be carried out at a cost of Rs 11 crore and  Durga Mahal-Bokkapatna Road will be developed at a cost of Rs 1.65 crore, she added.

Footpath development works will be initiated at Bejai Battagudda Junction- Kadri New Road, Anegundi Cross- Bejai Museum, Lalbagh Junction – KSRTC Junction, Kadri Junction – Bunts Hostel, Bunts Hostel Circle-Jyothi Circle (drainage and footpath both and on either sides of the road), KSRTC Kuntikan Kapikad ninth cross to Kottara Cross, A B Shetty Circle-Subhash Nagar Main Road and Hampankatta Railway Station Road – Nandigugga Circle.

Bejai market opening
The mayor said the Bejai market will be opened for public use from Friday. The opening ceremony will be held at 10 am on that day. The new building is of six floors. Three floors (underground, ground and first floor) have been constructed at a cost of Rs 3.96 crore. As many as 51 stalls have been built at the market. The building has been constructed by Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Ltd (Karnataka Land Army) and the first grade contractor Ananthakrishna Shetty. The building construction started in 2009-10, she gave details.

The 674.47-square metre underground plinth area consists of services, parking, stairway, ramp and drive way.

The groundfloor plinth area of the building is of 898 square metre and it consists of 10 commercial stalls, three fruit stalls, five vegetable stalls and one flower stalls.

The first floor plinth area covers 898 sq metre and consists of seven commercial stalls, three interior stalls, 12 fish stalls, two dry fish stalls, two chicken stalls, two mutton stalls, two beef stalls and two pork stalls.

Deputy Mayor Purushottam Chirapur, Council Chief Whip Shashidhar Hegde, Town Planning Standing Committee Chairman Deepak Poojary and Standig Committee on Health Chairman Prakash Salian were present at the press meet.
