VMWare pushes new IT model; claims traction for vCloud Suite

 VMware India, part of the $6.04-billion US-based virtualisation and cloud infrastructure solutions major VMware, on Friday organised the ‘vForum Roadshow 2015’ event to showcase its products, services and partner updates.

Speaking at the event, VMware India managing director Arun Parameswaran said the event gives an overview of products and  partner updates to help customers transform their businesses and embrace a new model for IT.

“Our software-defined approach to run and build applications brings systematic change in the IT infrastructure. VMware is enabling these applications to be delivered through business mobility with security from the device to the cloud,” he said. “VMware is witnessing an overwhelming adoption of its VMware vCloud Suite, our advanced cloud infrastructure solution, among enterprises in India. Our Software Defined Datacenter (SDDC) approach to IT has really solidified our leadership position in India’s cloud infrastructure market,” he said.

During a discussion, Wipro Chief Information Officer Raja Ukil showered praise at the functionalities of VMware’s mobility solutions offered by AirWatch. “The platform helps us in managing end-point devices, mobile apps, window devices, etc. from a single console. Since it is more integrable and flexible, AirWatch has eliminated the complexity with its simplified device management model,” he said.

According to a recent IDC report, customers in India are expected to save an estimated $4 billion between 2014 and 2020 by adopting a software-defined approach to managing IT.

VMware is also aggressively targeting at the growing market for enterprise mobility solutions in India  and IDC predicts it will grow to $2.3 billion by 2017.
