Citizens sign petition on bad road

An online petition seeking restoration of the Neotown Road in Electronics City, which is in a bad shape, has received signatures from more than 700 supporters.

The petition, floated by residents in the area, is addressed to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.

Residents say that the road is in a pathetic state and many commuters, especially senior citizens, have a tough time getting through this stretch. “ As a parent, I am worried about the safety of my child. A number of senior citizens live in Neotown and the road condition is highly deterrent to ambulances reaching in time in the event of any medical emergency. I want authorities to wake up and take action for the safety of residents,”  said Suma, a resident. 

The petition was filed on November 17 on change.org and a copy of it has also been forwarded to the Hulimangala panchayat, the jurisdiction under which the road falls.

Residents said that the road was riddled with many potholes.  “The road has not been tarred for many years. It is not just the motorists even pedestrians face problems when they walk on this road. My business is affected and customers complain about the bad condition of the road,” said, Ranjit Jadav, who runs a hotel in Newtown Road.

A copy of the petition has also been sent to BBMP Commissioner Kumar Naik, MLA DK Suresh and the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board.
