A melodious battle

Voice of Bangalore’ (VOB), the talent hunt show being presented by Garuda Mall since the last eight years, ended on a high note with two deserving contestants bagging the coveted ‘VOB’ Season 8 title. The event was attended by hundreds of people and graced by celebrity judges like Adnan Sami, Sandalwood playback singer and brand ambassador Rajesh Krishnan and producer-distributor Yogaraj Bhat.

Since its inception, more than 80,000 people from all walks of life across Karnataka have participated in this competition. Many singers from among the winners of ‘Voice of Bangalore’ like Supriya Ramakrishnaiah, Santosh Venky, Deepak Doddera and many more are playback singers in the Kannada and other film industries. This year, ‘Voice of Bangalore’ started on September 6 and went to a lot of places in the City including colleges, corporate firms and public places. Along with this, it tested several good voices in Tumakuru, Mandya, Mysuru, Hassan and other towns. Out of about 10000 participants this year, Rajesh Krishnan selected more than 550 voices for the first round. After several rounds of elimination, the judges selected 16 singers— eight boys and eight girls for the quarter-finals. Out of that, four boys and four girls were selected for the semi-finals and three boys and three girls made it to the finals. From among these finalists, one boy and one girl won the crown of ‘Voice of Bangalore’ and received a brand new car as the prize.

The managing director of Garuda Group, Udaya Garudachar, said that they have been conducting ‘Voice of Bangalore’ as part of their corporate social responsibility initiative, so as to unearth the singing talent among the youth.

Adnan Sami declared Dhanush as the male winner of ‘Voice of Bangalore’ season 8 and Meghana as the female winner. Dhanush, who was considered as one of the strongest contenders throughout the season, appeared confident and showed no signs of nervousness. Nurturing dreams of becoming a playback singer, he expressed that VOB has given him the best platform to fulfill his dreams and was excited to meet his favourite Adnan Sami. Meanwhile, Adnan enthralled the audience to the fullest. He entertained them with his popular numbers like “Bheegi Bheegi Yaadon Mein Fir Tum Aao Naa”.
