Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said it was RJD chief Lalu Prasad who had pulled him into a hug at the swearing-in of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar in Patna last week.

The clarification on his controversial embrace with the tainted RJD leader came during the meeting of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) National Council on Monday.

“At Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in, Lalu Prasad shook my hand, pulled and hugged me. I didn’t take any initiative,” Kejriwal said, recounting the incident on the stage.Ruling out an alliance with the RJD, the AAP’s national convenor said he remains opposed to Prasad’s corrupt past and dynasty politics.

“His two sons are ministers. We are against that too. I am happy that questions are being asked because people have hope (in AAP), because they think we are different. Nobody asks questions when other leaders hug Laluji.”

Kejriwal lauded his AAP government for making a significant progress ever since it came to power in February this year. He also claimed that the government remains steadfast on the AAP’s promise for the anti-graft Janlokpal Bill and Swaraj.

“We’ve worked very hard in the last 10 months. What we have achieved, the Sheila Dikshit government couldn’t do it in 15 years. Modiji had the entire nation at his disposal, even he could not do. On corruption, there’s never been a precedence of chief minister sacking his own minister for involvement in corruption,” he said.
