A 14-year-old boy sustained severe injuries in his left eye after the mobile phone put on charge, with which he was playing, exploded in Baratagi tanda in Vijayapura taluk late on Monday night.
According to sources, Mantesh Dhansingh Rathod was playing a game in the mobile phone while sleeping.
The mobile, which was connected to a power source for charging, exploded suddenly, injuring his left eye severely.
He was immediately taken to a private eye hospital and later shifted to Miraj for treatment.
