To avoid phone taps, Indrani spoke to Rai over Skype

The killing of Sheena Bora is one of the most complex murder mysteries of India— and it has now emerged that Indrani Mukerjea nee Bora, the wife of former Star India CEO Peter Mukerjea, had gone to the extent of training co-accused and driver Shyamwar Rai in communicating on Skype.

To avoid phone taps, Indrani spoke to Rai over Skype—and for this Rai was trained by her secretary Kajal Sharma, who is a witness in the case.

In September, when Indrani, her first husband Sanjeev Khanna of Kolkata and Rai were produced before the magistrate court in Bandra, it was mentioned that Skype was used as part of the conspiracy. “The accused is a hard nut to crack. They have used modern tools like email, Internet, Skype to plan the murder.

They impersonated the victim by creating false email. She (Indrani) created a bogus email ID, we have to probe further,” special public prosecutor Vaibhav Bagade had told the court.
Now, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) confirms this.

“In pursuance of the said conspiracy, Indrani Mukerjea asked Kajal Sharma, her personal secretary, to open a Skype account in the name of driver Shyamwar Rai and to train him in using the same,” according to deputy superintendent of police K K Singh of the CBI, who filed the chargesheet against the trio, in Mumbai.

According to the chargesheet: “Thereafter, Indrani Mukerjea expressed her plan to kill Sheena Bora (her deceased daughter) and Mekhail Bora (her son who survived the bid on his life)...as per Indrani’s directions, Rai used to talk to her on Skype.”
