Plum roles in store

Actress Rachita Ram has always been in the limelight. She manages to hold her own amidst the biggies of Sandalwood. After having romanced Ganesh, Darshan and Sudeep, she is now paired opposite Puneeth Rajkumar in ‘Chakravyuha’, which is currently under production.

Half way through working on ‘Chakravyuha’, Rachita says she always thought Puneeth would be reserved. “I was so wrong. He is not only punctual at work but an extremely humble person. He would always be on the dot for shooting, while we were the ones who would come in late. He’s a thorough professional and more than anything, he’s fun to be with,” says Rachita. Though she has had only a couple of years of experience, she has made a conscious effort in choosing projects that are performance-oriented, which give her enough room to explore her talents.

The film is directed by Tamil director M Saravanan and Rachita sums up her experience of working with him as ‘enriching’. “The director is particular about getting every action and emotion right. He explains every scene in such a way that we understand why he wants it put in a particular way and he also helps us look at the larger picture rather than restrict it to just one thing,” she adds.

Rachita has had some interesting memories of working in this film. From her costumes and hair to makeup, she says that she has had the chance to don different looks for the different sequences. “I’ve worn everything... from a half-sari, sari to off-shoulder dresses. The only thing that I’ve consciously stayed away from is wearing a bikini,” she confesses. Why not a bikini? “Somehow, I am not comfortable showing too much skin. I would rather concentrate on getting better roles than wearing revealing outfits,” she adds.

She also has ‘Rathaavara’ ready for release and is excited that she has a slew of interesting releases towards the end of this year and in the new year as well. Rachita says she signed ‘Rathaavara’ after a lot of thought. “I am not allowed to reveal my character in ‘Rathaarava’ but I can’t wait to see how the audience will react to my role,” she narrates.
