No dissidence in taluk BJP unit, Jayarama Reddy clarifies

Last Updated 07 February 2010, 19:02 IST

Speaking to mediapersons here on Sunday, he said, some of the presidents of the local committees had informed the media that there was dissidence in the taluk unit of the BJP. This was a very negative development. Since, all such allegations were far from the truth, as all the members of the party were involved in party-building activities, and opinions of all the members was taken into consideration.

In such situation, it was wrong on the part of some people to make such false allegations, he opined.

In the recently held elections to the president’s post of the taluk unit of the BJP, the members could not unanimously elect a leader. Such instances do take place. There can be differences of opinion among the workers. But this did not mean that there was differences among the members. In the interests of the party, it was necessary for the members to agree to all the decisions taken by the party superiors, Jayaramareddy said.

No role to play
He further clarified that the party higher-ups had decided to chose the president. And everybody should abide by the decision. No body had any role to play in this, he said and added, earlier, B V Shivareddy, who was the president of the taluk unit of the BJP had strived a lot for the welfare of the party.

All the members had great respect towards him. But, as per the decision of the higher-ups, Kotraguli Narayanswamy had been appointed as the president.
He was one among the several, who strived hard for strengthening the party right from its grassroot-levels. Every member had great confidence in him that he would discharge his responsibilities efficiently, he added.

However, nobody can blame that the taluk president and the taluk pramukhs of the BJP were not elected officially. Once the appointments were made, there could be some delay in the official endorsement.

Displaying the selection list of the candidates which was officially announced by the election officer on the occasion, he called upon the office-bearers, leaders and the party workers  to  strive for the strengthening of the party.
