The Bihar Police on Saturday arrested the man who threatened to eliminate Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in the midnight of November 27.

He was produced in the court and later moved to jail.

The accused, identified as Ajay Kumar Choudhary, was arrested from Pandaul in Madhubani district, barely few hours after he sent a text message to a news channel on Thursday. The SMS in Hindi read: “Bihar CM ko 27-11-2015 ko bomb barsaat karke marne ka hai. (Will blow up the Bihar CM in bomb blasts in the midnight of November 27).”

The SMS to a news channel employee, who works in the advertisement section, was received on November 26. The employee informed the DGP as well as Senior SP (SSP) of Patna. On the advice of the latter, he lodged an FIR at the SK Puri police station under Section 387 of the IPC against the unidentified person.

In the meantime, the security of Nitish was further beefed up. More security personnel were deployed at his 7, Circular Road residence.

A special police team was constituted which cracked the case within hours after tracing the location of the mobile. Cops were despatched to Madhubani from where the accused Choudhary was arrested.  He was brought to Patna and on interrogation, he gave weird answers, police said. A probe is on to check the authenticity of his threat.
