For most artistes in any movie industry, a new project brings with it excitement and nervousness. But fresh face Suraj Gowda, who has his debut film ‘Maduveya Mamatheya Kareyole’ (MMKY) hitting the screens soon, says that he is looking forward to the release and is confident that the film will do well.

“Having the opportunity to debut under a big banner and with a big starcast is any artiste’s dream come true. I believe that I’m very lucky as I have just this in ‘MMKY’, which is by director Kaviraj and producer Dinakar Toogudeepa, and includes artistes like Anant Nag, Amulya and Bullet Prakash.” Suraj says that this movie taught him a lot about how to look at things differently. “This movie was like the school of learning for me. The movie team was like family and Dinakar Toogudeepa has always treated me as a brother, appreciating me for anything good and correcting me whenever I faltered. And now, when we are ready with the movie to be released, I am hoping the audience accepts the movie well and appreciates our efforts,” he says.

His role in the movie is of a chocolate-boy and he says that the movie is a family entertainer. “The movie is a rom-com with fresh dialogues that will impress anyone. When you watch a movie, at some point you will feel that you’ve heard similar dialogues or seen scenes that resemble another film. But this movie has a fresh angle to humour and everything. It has something for everyone.” Suraj took dancing lessons and acting classes for this movie.

Ask him if he is passionate about dancing and he says, “If you had asked me a few years back if I could dance, I would have said ‘yes’ quite confidently. But now the bar is so high and ‘dancing’ is a very broad and different term now,” he says with a smile.

The audio release of the movie, which happened recently, has put the spotlight on catchy numbers that the movie has. “My favourite is the title track, which is like a montage and is spread across the movie. ‘Bhumi Baanu’, the more commercial track of the movie, is a visual treat and is also one of my favourites,” he says.

About his co-star Amulya, he says that though he was nervous about acting with the star, it was a learning experience. “Amulya is a no-tantrum girl. While I was preparing on the sets, she would also suggest how I could go about a particular scene which helped a lot.

She was very friendly and cooperative, which added to the whole experience,” he says. On future projects, Suraj says that he isn’t signing up for any scripts at the moment. “I’m busy with ‘MMKY’s promotion. The movie is slated to release in January and I want to dedicate my entire time to the movie. I don’t want to be distracted with any other projects between this.”
