4-year-old falls into pit, dies

A four-year-old boy died after accidentally falling into a pit near a vacant BBMP site in Vinoba Nagar under the Kalasipalyam police limits.

The deceased has been identified as Manoj, son of Suresh, a daily wage labourer.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Friday evening when Manoj was playing near his house. The boy went near the pit and when he tried to peep inside, he accidentally fell into it and drowned.

A relative of the boy found the body floating in the pit and alerted the police who retrieved the body and sent if for post-mortem. The pit was dug near the Palike site where the civic agency had begun work, but stopped it midway. The pit was full of water due to the recent rains, the police said.

A case has been registered.
