Joshi accuses Cong of hijacking Central project

Last Updated 13 December 2015, 19:01 IST

The State government has hijacked Centre’s project Prakash Path and named it as Hosa Belaku, alleged BJP State president Pralhad Joshi.

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, Joshi said, “The Centre is buying LED bulbs at Rs 180 each and distributing two bulbs at Rs 10 to BPL cardholders. The Centre has distributed 20 crore LED bulbs to the states. But the State government has projected Prakash Path, albeit with different name, as its own.” Continuing his tirade against the ruling Congress, Joshi said,  Siddaramaiah-led government didn’t even show the courtesy to invite representatives from the Centre and the local elected representatives for the Hosa Belaku launch.

“It is wrong to appoint the jobless Ramya as brand ambassador of Hosa Belaku project. We will write to State Election Commission over the government’s move to appoint a politician as brand ambassador for project when Council elections are around the corner,” Joshi said.

The Centre had released Rs 362 crore to the State for drought relief works. But the State has spent only Rs 39 crore so far.

It is not fair to keep accusing the Centre when you have not spent the money released, he said.

Joshi said that BJP would win more than 15 seats in the upcoming Council polls for local bodies constituencies.
