Raped by stepfather, 14-yr-old girl becomes pregnant

 A 14-year-old girl has become pregnant after being repeatedly raped by her stepfather.The police have arrested the suspect Chandru, a daily wage worker.

According to the police, the suspect Chandru had divorced his wife and was living with another woman, who had deserted her husband.

Chandru and his partner were taking care of the latter's daughter. But the 14-year-old girl was subjected to repeated rape by Chandru when her mother was not in the house.
About five months back, the woman learnt that her daughter was pregnant. The victim dropped out of school.

An anganwadi worker, who had noticed visible changes in the girl's body, suspected something amiss and promptly called the helpline of the district child protection unit on
Thursday.

The heinous crime came to light when the officials of the child protection unit, following a complaint lodged by the anganwadi worker, visited the house of the girl.

The mother and the victim, according to the police, had not revealed the incident as Chandru had threatened them not to do so.

“The victim is a Class 7 student at a government school in the town. The girl, who is in her 8th month pregnancy, has been admitted to SNR District Hospital,” District Child Protection Cell Officer Anita told Deccan Herald.

The police have arrested the suspect under Pocso Act.
