<p>A 20-year-old female engineering student reportedly committed suicide at her home in Tilak Nagar in southern Bengaluru on Friday evening. <br /><br /></p>.<p>A failed love affair is said to have driven her to the extreme step and the police are investigating whether it is a case of abetment to suicide.<br /><br />Sowmya, who was studying third-year BE at a private college near Bannerghatta Road, returned home, locked herself in and hanged from the ceiling fan.<br /><br />The incident came to light when her mother, who was not at home, returned and found the door locked from inside. She knocked on the door but didn’t get a response. On some suspicion, she peeped into the bedroom window and was shell-shocked to see her daughter hanging. She screamed to neighbours for help.<br /><br />The door was broken open and the police were called. The police said they had found a death note and suspect a failed love affair. They have seized Sowmya’s mobile phone. The Tilak Nagar police have registered a case. </p>
