Bollywood singer Sukhwinder Singh seems to be on a roll for his voice has worked wonders in the most recent releases of this year. He has crooned the song ‘Gajanana’ in Bajirao Mastani and says that it has received a fantastic response.

“This song is very special to me. It is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is an important song which is related to the climax of the film,” says Sukhwinder excitedly, adding, “The launch of ‘Gajanana’ was so big in Pune that it made it to the Guinness Book of World Records.

Around 40,000 students from different schools and colleges in the city were present at the event along with over 15,000 folk dancers from various villages in Maharashtra.”

The singer, who was recently in Bengaluru to perform at Imperial Blue Superhit Nights Season 2, has delivered hits like ‘Chhaiyya Chhaiyya’, ‘Dabangg’ and ‘Jai Ho’ in the past.

He is also pleased with the response to ‘Chali Kahaani’, the opening song of Tamasha, that he has sung with AR Rahman.

“This is the second symphony I’ve sung, the first being ‘Bismil’ in Haider,” he shares. Having sung several rocking numbers that have enthralled audiences, the singer now chose to lend his voice to a social cause. He recently released his private music album ‘Aatishpara’ that highlights the issue of child labour.

“The focus of this album is that stopping child labour is not that important; how we can help the children after that and get them effectively employed or engaged is what matters. It ends with a message saying ‘help children to grow up and live with dignity’.” According to him, the album has struck an emotional chord with several viewers.

As for Bengaluru, Sukhwinder says that it is a tourist place, an educational hub and a special city. “I came here about eight years back.

The City has become very crowded since then and there is a lot of rush but the tourist appeal is still there. It is peaceful in its own way and the weather is lovely here. I hope that the beauty of the place sustains forever.”
