Cleanliness drive: Kadri Park-Padua area wears a new look now

College students, volunteers clean bus stand, road

The Ramakrishna Mission conducted 31st Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan in Kadri Park-Padua area on Sunday.

S Viswanath, senior scientist, NAL, Bengaluru and Vasanth Kumar Perla, assistant station director, All India Radio (AIR), Mangaluru, inaugurated the drive in the presence of Swami Jithakamanandaji, president, Ramakrishna Mutt and MLC Ganesh Karnik. 

A group of Art of Living volunteers, students from government First Grade College, volunteers from Nivedita Balaga and students of Bharathi PU College participated in the Abhiyan.

The volunteers cleaned the surroundings of AIR campus under the leadership of Vasudev and Karnik. The road leading to Kadri Park from AIR was also cleaned. Weeds and grass that were covering the footpath and encroaching the road near Kadri Park were removed using machines.

A bus shelter at Padua was also cleaned and the volunteers painted the railings and the bus shelter.

The direction board near Kadri Park was worn out. It was repainted for the benefit of public.

The distance indicating milestones on the Padua highway were also repainted and grass was removed.

The circle in front of Vas Bakery in St Agnes area was cleaned and repair work was done last week.

This week too, the work was continued by plastering with cement. The circle will be painted with art and graffiti in the coming days. The volunteers also distributed handbills on Swachh Mangaluru Abhiyan to create awareness among the residents in the area. MRPL, the principal patron of the event, sponsored the cleanliness drive.
