With the tiki gods

Tropical treat
Last Updated 25 December 2015, 18:35 IST

With the City’s mushrooming restaurants every month, there’s a new kid on the block. Say hello to ‘The Big Kahuna’ which has opened its doors to the ‘foodies’ of Indiranagar. Located on 100 Feet Road, this newbie is a Polynesian inspired tiki bar that’s known for its unique cocktails and cuisine.

With a muted ambience and statues of tiki gods adorning the restaurant, it gives one a different feel to the experience. Though it has an array of dishes to choose from, most of them are meant to be finger food.

Trying to bring one the tropical island experience, they have specifically designed cups and mugs to enjoy the drinks. Served as a community bowl, the ‘Scorpian Bowl’ and ‘Kava Bowl’ sure are eye-catchers. With over 40 beverages, each one is garnished with their signature orchid as an additional touch.

When it comes to the food, they have a wide option of platters to choose from, which works well when one is in a group. The restaurant is known for its grilled dishes and it seem to have done justice to the same. With the right marination coating on the meats, it makes it a finger-licking combination.

They also offer juicy burgers and bite-sized sliders that make for great snacks. Some of their other popular bar snacks include ‘Veggie BBQ Pita’, ‘Mauna Loa Sliders’ and ‘Blood Mary Prawns’. For the main course, the ‘Fusilli with Jalepeno and Sour Cream’ and ‘Grilled Basa’ are recommended. And to end the entire meal, the chef recommends ‘TBK Snickers Bar’, ‘Caramel Cake’ and ‘Coffee Creme Brulee’.

The restaurant is designed on two floors, one which leads to a spacious terrace and another to a private dining room. Though some indigenous artifacts are visually appealing, the tables on the terrace floor might not be the most comfortable ones to dine on.

However, the waiters sure do try to bring in the fun elements with Hawaiian shirts and good hospitality. It’s located at 775, 1st floor, 100 Feet Road. For reservations, call 69990180.
