Students, teachers injured in accident

Eight students and two teachers, who were on school trip, were injured when the bus in which they were travelling hit a tree at Tolalu near here, on Saturday.

Injured are the students and the teachers of U Mitturu School in Mulabagilu taluk of Kolar district.

Class X students Ramoji  and Suma both, 16-year, headmaster Munivenkatappa, 57, teacher Gopalakrishna, 56, are severely injured and five other students sustained minor injuries.

Ramoji has sustained severe injuries on his eyes. All the injured people were shifted to National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, after first aid at Belur government hospital.

The students were returning to Kolar after touring Dakshina Kannada, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan districts.

The accident occurred when they were returning to Kolar from Belur.

Following the incident, bus driver Subramanya, fled the spot.

The left portion of the bus was completely damaged as the bus brushed against a
tree.

Police said negligent driving caused the mishap. Arehalli police have registered an accident case.
