Hema murder key accused still at large

Contemporary artist Chintan Upadhyay, who was arrested for the sensational double murder involving his estranged wife Hema Upadhyay nee Hirani and her lawyer Harish Bhambani was on Monday sent to a week’s judicial custody even as his key partner in crime Vidyadhar Rajbhar continues to evade the Mumbai Police.

So far, Chintan, 43, has been in the police custody and lodged at the lock-up of Kandivli police station. On Monday, he was sent to judicial custody till January 11. Chintan was arrested on December 22 after he was grilled for over a week. Chintan was under scanner after bodies of noted installation artist Hema (43) and Bhambani  (65) wrapped in plastic sheets and packed in separate cardboard boxes were found dumped in an open drain at Dahanukarwadi in Kandivali on December 12.

The four other accused are employees, business associates or relatives of Vidyadhar Rajbhar. They are  Azad Rajbhar, Pradeep Rajbhar and Vijay Rajbhar and Shivkumar Rajbhar alias Sadhu and they too are also behind the bars.
