Elaborate security arrangements made in Udupi for Paryaya

The police are making elaborate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming Paryaya festival to be held from January 17 to 18.

According to a press release issued by Superintendent of Police Annamalai, the police from five neighbouring districts will be pressed into the service.

Five DYSP rank officials, 14 CPIs, 2 RPIs, 45 PSIs, 90 ASIs, 620 HC/PC, 80 women police personnel, 284 Home Guards and six KSRP and DAR platoons are deployed for service for two days. Six check posts are will be up for inspecting the vehicles. A police outpost is opened at Car Street to register the devotees’ grievances.

Parking facility
As many as 21 alternative parking facilities are available.

Two-wheelers can be parked at Board High School Ground, Christian High School Ground, Beedinagudde, UBMC School Ground, Royal Garden, City Developers Ground, Himalaya Enclave Ground, St Cecily School Ground while buses and lorries can be parked at MGM College Grounds.

Car and jeeps can be parked at Christian Pre-university College, Beedinagudde, Adi Udupi, CSI Boys’ Boarding school, City Developers, Royal garden, Himalaya Enclave and Vivekananda Government Higher Primary School Ground and North School Ground.  

Traffic diversion
Besides, the vehicular traffic will also be diverted to other routes keeping in view the heavy inflow of vehicles. The buses plying towards Mumbai from Mangaluru are banned from entering the city for two days. Passengers should board these buses at Amabalpadi, Balaipade and Karavali Junctions. The buses coming from Mangaluru should enter the city from Karavali Junction through Bannanje.

The outgoing buses from Udupi Service and City Bus Stands should ply from Karavali Junction to the designated areas. The buses to Kundapura and Malpe from Udupi should also take the Bannanje route via Karavali Junction. Udupi to Karkala buses are banned from entering the city and passengers should board and alight at Manipal for two days.

Parking of vehicles is banned at Lions Circle, Kinnimulkhi welcome arch, Diana Circle, Syndicate Tower, Tenkapete, K M Marg, Badagupete and  Kalsanka to Rajaangana parking area. Paid parking facility from Woodlands Hotel to Pejawar Mutt backyard is also banned.
