There seems to be no end to deadlock over the government formation in Jammu & Kashmir in the wake of chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s death, as PDP maintains that it hasn’t taken any decision on continuing its alliance with the BJP.

“No decision has been taken yet over “the government formation,” PDP spokesman and former government spokesman Naeem Akhtar told reporters after offering congregational prayers at late Mufti’s grave in Bijbehara.

He said the party president and Chief Minister in making Mehbooba Mufti is yet to meet her colleagues. “After meeting with them, the future strategy will be devised,” Akhtar said while negating the reports that there was any confusion in the party over the alliance
Mehbooba has not spoken over the issue since her father died last week which has made rumor mill agog in the state over the formation of new government. The governor’s rule was imposed in J&K on January 8, a day after Mufti expired as Mehbooba, who was supposed to take oath as first woman Chief Minister of the state declined to do so.

The PDP maintains that it would review the progress made on Agenda of Alliance signed by late Mufti with the BJP leadership last year before taking a call whether to continue the alliance. “We will review the progress on the Agenda of Alliance as it was a common vision of the prime minister (Narendra Modi) and Mufti sahib. We are reviewing how much of it has been achieved,” Akhtar said.
