This year, Biffes to be a star-studded event

The eighth edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFes) - 2016 promises to be a star-studded event with personalities including Jaya Bachchan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Nana Patekar and Maniratnam among others, scheduled to attend the eight-day extravaganza.

For the first time, the BIFFes inaugural ceremony will be held in front of the Vidhana Soudha on January 28, and the valedictory function, is set to be held in front of Mysuru Palace on February 4.

Speaking to reporters after a review meeting, Information Minister Roshan Baig, said Biffes, this year, will be held under one roof. Over 200 films from 50 countries will be screened at 11 screens at Orion Mall in Yeshwantpur and four screens of INOX cinemas at the Mall of Mysore in Mysuru.

Some of the highlights at the festival include screening of movies by renowned film-makers K S L Swamy and Geethapriya, who passed away recently. Jaya Bachchan will deliver a lecture on ‘Children’s films’, Bhansali on ‘New trends in Indian cinema’ and Maniratnam on ‘Direction’. There will also be a workshop on sound design by Oscar-winner Resul Pookutty.

Baig said there will be tight security arrangements during the inaugural and valedictory events and also at the two malls where the films will be screened.

Parking

Parking issues at the two malls, where the films will be screened, have been resolved. The parking fee for four-wheelers will be Rs 60 per day and Rs 30 per day for two-wheelers. Details about the films to be screened and availability of tickets can be accessed at www.biffes.in
