Butterfly tower

Last Updated 28 January 2016, 18:32 IST

An oddly-shaped hotel and residential high-rise, named Butterfly Tower, is set to go up along a road overlooking the main beach in the popular tourist destination of Nha Trang in Vietnam.

Built on a 5,941 square metre plot, Butterfly Tower will stand 19 storeys tall and include 590 serviced apartments ranging from 50 to 165 square metres each.

Its unusual butterfly-inspired design will afford residents and guests four different views of the coastal city and its natural surroundings, including the ocean and nearby Cai river, as well as downtown Nha Trang and the historic Ponagar.

Designed by the German firm Franken Architekten and backed by a local company, Butterfly Tower will also include a mixed-use podium at the base of the tower, which will house shops, restaurants, bars and cafes in addition to basement parking.

The architecture firm completed its initial design in 2009 and now claims that infrastructure construction is complete on the development.
