Rahaman Sharief richest, youngest of bypoll candidates

Hebbal Congress candidate has assets worth 25 crore

Congress candidate from Hebbal C K Abdul Rahaman Sharief tops the list of richest candidates contesting the upcoming byelections to the three assembly constituencies. He is also the youngest of the key contenders.

Rahaman, who has a rich inheritance, is worth around Rs 25.04 crore. A diploma holder in Enterprises and Entrepreneurs from London School of Business and Finance, Rahaman is the director of a private limited company.

Rahaman's movable property is worth around Rs 2.29 crore, while the total worth of his immovable properties in Rs 22.75 crore. According to the affidavit of the assets and liabilities uploaded on the website of the Chief Electoral Officer, Karnataka, Rahaman has liabilities of Rs 55.44 lakh.

While he owns 20 acres of agriculture land in Sathanur valued at Rs 20.20 crore, he owns commercial buildings (including apartments) in Shivajinagar, Bengaluru, which are valued at Rs 1.60 crore.

Rahaman owns a residential building in Benson Town in the City worth Rs 1.04 crore.
His opponent, BJP candidate Y A Narayanswamy, has declared movable property of Rs 32.25 lakh and immovable properties worth Rs 5.97 crore. His wife owns immovable properties worth Rs 4.70 crore, according to the declaration. Narayanswamy, who is a BE (Civil) and an ME, has liabilities of Rs 1.69 crore.

JD(S) candidate from the same constituency, Ismail Sharief, 41, has declared assets worth Rs four crore. While his movable property is Rs 22.50 lakh, his immovable property (inherited) is valued at Rs 3.69 crore. Sharief has declared his education qualification as “high school” in his affidavit.

On Thursday, election officials found 22 of the 24 nominations filed in the constituency valid upon scrutiny.

Bidar
BJP candidate from Bidar, Prakash Khandre, 59, has movable property worth Rs 12.87 crore, and immovable properties worth Rs 3.20 crore. He has pegged his liabilities at Rs 10.56 crore. Congress candidate Rahim Khan has declared movable properties of Rs 1.46 crore and immovable properties of Rs 3.43 crore.

Two wives
A second PUC pass, Khan has two wives, according to his declaration. While one is a housewife, the other is a businesswoman. He calls himself a social worker besides being engaged in the fields of education and agriculture business.

Devadurga
BJP candidate from Devadurga, Shivanagouda, 39, is a II PUC pass and a businessman and agriculturist. He owns a 50x80 ft site in HSR Layout, Bengaluru, which is valued at Rs 2.50 crore.

While JD(S) candidate Karemma, a PUC pass (vocational), has property worth less than Rs one crore, Congress candidate Rajashekar  has declared properties worth over Rs three crore. Nayak, 46, is a BA pass.
