Tamil Nadu plans industries worth Rs 10k cr

In line with the Global Investors Meet, the Tamil Nadu government on Friday took measures in setting up several industries in tier-II cities at a cost of more than Rs 10,000 crore.

Accordingly, Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa also laid the foundation stone for facilities of several companies, which is expected to provide jobs for 24,653 people.

The new companies include Takasago International (India)’s flavours and fragrances facility in Kancheepuram district, Growth Link Overseas Co’s footware factory at SIPCOT Industrial Complex at Cheyyar in Tiruvannamalai district, Welspun’s solar power project in Tiruchi and Karur districts and Samsung India’s consumer goods expansion project at Sriperumbudur, among others.
