BBMP to sanction almost all building plans

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will now approve building plans and issue commencement and occupancy certificates for residential and commercial buildings in layouts developed by various government agencies in its limits.

But industrial areas developed by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) and the Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation  (KSSIDC) have been left out.

As per a government order, properties under the jurisdiction of the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), Karnataka Housing Board (KHB), Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor Area Planning Authority and other agencies in the BBMP limits have to obtain building plans from the Palike. This means people now don’t have to approach different agencies for building plan sanctions or commencement and occupancy certificates.

The BDA will have the power to approve all layouts in the BBMP limits. The government had empowered the BBMP to approve building plans even for areas under the KIADB and the KSSIDC jurisdiction. But industry bodies opposed it, forcing the government to leave them out. An order leaving out the KIADB and the KSSIDC areas was issued ahead of the recently concluded Invest Karnataka 2016 meet.
