The accused, Anand, 25, Pawan Kumar, 19, M Bharath, 18, Revanna, 20, Charan, 20 and Ashwini, 20, were arrested on Wednesday. Police recovered gold valuables worth Rs 80,000 and seized a car which was used to commit the offence. Rajeshwari’s husband Vinay, alias Govindraj, is a real estate agent.

Ashwini, a native of Bidar, used to frequent complainant Rajeshwari’s house with different men and became close to her. Ashwini noticed that Rajeshwari had gold in her house and informed her friends about Rajeshwari and her activities. The gang, which was in dire need of money, hatched a plan to loot her. Accordingly, Ashwini planned to visit her house and minutes later, the five youths would enter and threaten Rajeshwari accusing her of running a prostitution racket and take away the cash and valuables, added the police.

On February 2, according to the plan, Ashwini called Rajeshwari and informed her that she would come to her house. Rajeshwari told Ashwini she could come down as her husband had gone out on work.
