Why not get all the taxi aggregators, Olacabs and Uber included, in a single moble screen? How about comparing the rates and booking the cheapest and the earliest available cab in one touch? Delivering precisely this is ScootApp, an aggregator of aggregators that has just launched another service: Booking inter-city cabs.

Simply put, Scoot frees you from the cumbersome juggling of different apps to find a cab closest to your location. Since all the taxi aggregators are lined up on the same screen with related information on expected time of arrival (ETA), rate per kilometre, and surge price if any, you only need to select the option. The app will then lead you to the relevant service provider’s app for booking.

Scoot now operates in 85 Indian cities including Bengaluru, besides foraying into the US, UK and Singapore taxi markets. “In India we have partnered with 25 aggregators including Ola, Uber, TaxiforSure, Easy Cabs, Jugnoo Autos, BookmyCab and more. As of now, we have 30,000 app downloads. On an average, we have about 1,000 to 1,500 active users a day,” Scoot’s co-founder Aditya Bagmane told Deccan Herald.

#The origin of Scoot’s current avatar could be traced back to the experience of another co-founder, Dhruv Kalro, who as a regular cab user found it tough to locate a cab that suited his needs instantly. It was then Adtiya, Dhruv and Akshaan Nambiar realised the need for a consolidated platform to book the most suitable cab. Together with technology partners, Gunjan Thakuria and Sagar Yarnalkar, the Scoot App was given a final shape.

Scoot has now expanded its taxi aggregation model to include cabs that operate between cities. “We have partnered with cab services in the intercity and cab rental (4 hour / 8 hour) market in over 5,000 locations. You could choose taxis based on the type of the car for a trip from Bengaluru to Mysuru or Delhi to Taj Mahal. All charges, including the driver’s pay, are consolidated and presented as rate per kilometre to make it simple,” Bagmane explained.

This market, he said, is being worked on a commission-based model. “We are also working to integrate airport transfers and self-drive options for both bike and car to make Scoot a one-stop transportation service.”
