Two workers killed as earth caves in

40 labourers were employed daily at the field to load sand

The deceased Ramanji (36) of Gowdasandra, Muddurappa (40) of Kallinayakanahalli were loading the sand into the truck when the incident happened.

Shakuntala Bhai had given her land on contract to Srinivasbabu for several years.
Everyday, Srinivasbabu employed 40 labourers to load sand into the trucks from the land. On Monday morning at around 6:30 am when illegal sand mining was being carried out at 60-feet deep in the land, the earth caved in killing two labourers on the spot.

The other labourers are reported to have fled the scene of accident. On hearing about the incident an excavator was immediately pressed to work and the bodies of two labourers were retrieved.

Deputy Commissioner Anwar Pasha, tahsildhar Dr Sudha, Circle Inspector Srinivasmurthy and others visited the site of accident.
