JD(S) workers allege irregularities in counting, stage sit-in at Shidlaghatta

JD(S) workers staged a sit-in alleging irregularities in the counting of votes for taluk and zilla panchayat elections at Shidlaghatta Government Pre-University College here on Tuesday.

JD(S) workers demanded fresh counting after Congress candidate P Nirmala Muniraju was declared winner with marginal votes from Jangamakote Zilla Panchayat. The Congress workers on the other hand justified the counting and sought certificate leading to a fight between the two parties. The police interfered and fecilitated fresh counting in the presence of booth agents in which Nirmala was again declared victorius. In a similar incident JD(S) workers sought fresh counting after Congress candidate K M Srinivas emerged winner from Abludu Taluk Panchayat. Srinivas was declared victorious with same number of votes even after a fresh round of counting.
