Sanketh puts Engrades CC in summit clash

A fine bowling effort from Sanketh Shetty (13 for 126) gave Engrades Cricket Club a comprehensive innings and seven runs victory over Kengeri Cricketers in the semifinal of the KSCA Group I, Division V tournament for the JB Mallaradhya Shield here.

Batting first, Engrades posted 306 for eight in their first innings thanks to Suhas’ knock of 105 and Gaurav, who added a valuable 67.

Kengeri folded cheaply for 126 in the first innings and 173 in their second hit, with Sanketh doing the damage. He bagged 6/48 in the first innings and then 7/78 in the second, wrapping up an easy win for his team and helping them book their spot in the final of the tournament.

Engrades will take on Palar Sports Club in the final after they beat Bharath Cricket Club by 81 runs in the other semifinal.   

Brief scores (Semifinals): Engrades Cricket Club: 306/8 in 55 overs (Gaurav 67, Suhas 105, Chirag Belliappa 43, Shashank 32, Sanketh Shetty 25; Somashekar 2-78, Prasanth KT 4-40) bt Kengeri Cricketers: 126 all out in 32 overs (Sanketh Shetty 6-48, BT Satish 3-17) and 173 all out in 26.5 overs (Vinay 55, Hemanth 31; Suhas 2-32, Sanketh Shetty 7-78).

Palar Sports Club: 133 all out in 33.3 overs (Badal Kumar 55 n.o.; Vinay G 7-39, Manish 2-31) and 266/5 in 30 overs (Vikas Sangwan 82, Ashfaque Alam 97, Guruprasad Swamy 44 n.o.; Vinay G 2-75, Srinivas 2-76) bt Bharath Cricket Club: 199 all out in 46.2 ovrs (Santosh 38, Kiran Kumar 47; Rajesh Nair 5-46, Ajay Sainis 3-59) and 119/9 in 30 overs (Santosh 30; Rajesh Nair 5-46, Ajay Sainis 4-61).
