JOIN USMedia speculates Wadiyar marriage in May
Even as a section of the local media reported that Pramoda Devi Wadiyar had fixed the marriage date of her son Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar in the month of May, Palace sources clarified that there is no such development.
When contacted, Palace Secretary Lakshminarayan said, “Pramoda Devi Wadiyar would convene a press meet and announce the matter, if there is any such good news.”
It has to be recalled that Yaduveer was engaged to Trishika Kumari Singh, daughter of Harshavardhan Singh of Dungarpur in Rajasthan, even before he was adopted by his grand aunt Pramoda Devi Wadiyar on February 23, last year, following the death of his grand uncle Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar in December 2013. He was coronated as the custodian of the Yadu dynasty on May 28, 2015 and conducted the ceremonies during the Dasara festivities last year. Born on March 24, 1992, he is one of the most eligible bachelors as he turns 24 next month and is the 27th Wadiyar king, even though there are no kings in a democracy. He has also obtained an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts in Economics and English.
Born as Yaduveer Gopal Raj Urs, he is the only son of Swarup Anand Gopal Raj Urs of the Bettadakote clan of the Urs family and Tripurasundari Devi. It has to be recalled that Chamaraja Wadiyar X was also adopted from the Bettadakote clan by his grandfather Mummadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar as he did not have a male heir.
While Chamaraja Wadiyar’s mother Puta Ammani was the eldest daughter of Mummadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar, Tripurasundari Devi is the daughter of Gayathri Devi, the eldest daughter of Jayachamaraja Wadiyar, the last monarch of Mysuru.
According to the local media and a few sources close to the Palace, astrologers, scholars and the rajaguru have suggested three auspicious dates in May and that Pramoda Devi Wadiyar has preferred the month of May as there will be some time available to make elaborate arrangements for the wedding. Trishika Kumari Singh was already seen during the Palace ceremonies, including the adoption, coronation and Dasara. However, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar is yet to officially announce the decision to conduct the marriage and its scheduled date.
